Balju heating

Heating the balju is a relaxing activity - it creates its own, relaxing atmosphere around bathing. However, it is worth taking some time to warm up the bath so that the bath water is warm enough before sticking your toe in. Read on, and you'll find tips on how to successfully heat the stove all at once.

How long does it take to heat the pan?

As a rule of thumb, the water warms up about 10 degrees per hour. But otherwise I'm drinking the time used for heating depends on several different factors. This is influenced by e.g. the size of the pot and the amount of water in it, the power of the heating stove, the air temperature, and even the quality of the firewood used affects the total time. You should speed up the heating by keeping the lid on the pan during heating. Of course, how warm you want to heat the water also determines how long it takes to heat the water.

Most commonly, you should reserve around 1500-2000 hours of time in the summer for heating a tank with a volume of around 2-3 litres. In winter, it can even take double time, depending on the freezing temperatures. However, it's good to keep in mind that if the fire goes out in between, it will take considerably longer to heat the pan. It is therefore good to add wood every 10–20 minutes, depending on the size of the fire pit.

What is the best wood for heating the fire pit?

It has been noticed that the wood quality has an effect on how quickly the wood heats up. Chopped into small pieces, dry and high-quality firewood is a much better choice than large and damp wood chips, which may even double the heating time. In general, the denser the type of wood, the better it burns and, of course, the faster it heats up the stove.

In Finland, the best and most used type of wood is certainly birch, but of course other types are also suitable for heating the stove. How much wood is used for heating depends on e.g. the air temperature, the quality of the wood species and the initial water temperature. It is a good idea to reserve approximately 5–9 stacks of wood per heating session, depending on the size of the heating stove and the stove. For example In the Classic Hot Tub is a large fireplace that can hold a lot of wood at once.

Balju's heating checklist

  • before heating the pan, check that there is enough water in the pan
  • empty the ashes from the fireplace before you put new wood in it
  • use dry and high-quality firewood
  • keep the lid on during heating
  • remember to keep the fire going by adding more wood for about 10-20 min. every
  • mix the water and measure the temperature at regular intervals (note: it's not nice to bathe in too hot water either)
  • reduce the number of trees when the water is around 32 degrees
  • take your time and take it easy - it's not worth warming up a meal when you're in a hurry

Don't stress - make heating the tub part of a relaxing bath experience

The fire burning in the fireplace, its warmth and a beautiful summer or frosty day will stop even the busiest person. You shouldn't stress about heating the bath, but make it a natural part of the relaxing bath experience. So, let's say put the pocky in the nest Classic Hot Tub (>> link to the product) to the fireplace and ENJOY!
